Audi R15 TDI Plus is the second generation of the model, which will take a part in this year's 24h Le Mans race. The first model won in 2006 overcoming the competition with several laps. The new version of R15 TDI has minor upgrades, which are focused on higher efficiency and more power.

R15 TDI Plus is powered by compact 5.5 liter V10 twin-turbocharged diesel engine developing more than 620hp and over a thousand Nm of torque. The direct injection grants extraordinary performance and fuel efficiency. The car achieves 107bhp from a liter displacement and power-to-weight ratio of 0.63 bhp per kilogram.

The R15 racing car has revised aerodynamics and ergonomics. At the 24h Le Mans race is very important to have nice headlights at night, so the car is equipped with LED lights, which are borrowed from the R8.

Audi R15 TDI Plus passed a lot of test and it ran more than 40 000 km since March 2010. The race car had two endurance runs of 30 hours each and underwent two test races in the Le Mans Series at Le Castellet and Spa-Francorchamps and one test in France at the end of May.

The 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans will be the 78th Grand Prix of Endurance, which will take place on June 12–13, 2010 at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France. The race is organised by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO).
