BMW M3 GTS is ready to hit the market in spring 2010. The new lightweight model GTS is based on BMW M3 Coupe. The car is mainly hand-built by the most skilled craftsmen at BMW M GmbH. M3 GTS is entirely focused on motosport and the modifications comprise engine, gearbox, suspension and the body of the car. The interior is also slightly changed.

BMW M3 GTS is prepared mainly for Clubsport events on the track and unique driving satisfaction, but there is also an option for homologation on the road. So the M3 GTS will be one of the fastest cars on public roads. The racing oriented modifications in the car include both performance and safety, which makes the car suitable for everyday driving and going to work as well as using for racing.

Extreme Lightweight

The lightweight materials are extremely important for every fast sports car on the track. The total weight of BMW M3 GTS is less than 1,500kg (3,300 lb), which includes additional installed six-point seat belts and a rollcage fitted behind the B-pillar. This weight is achieved by using silencers made of titanium, the extra-light centre console and door linings, removing of rear seats, automatic air conditioning and an audio system, as well as sound insulation tailored specifically to this very special mode. The caron fibre roof comes in standard with every BMW M3.

Monster under the bonnet - 4.4 litre V8

The power unit descends from motorsport and it is now optimised for motorsport. The original high-speed 4 liter V8 from BMW M3 is now grew up to 4.4 litres and boosted in output to 450hp. The features typical of a hi-revolutions motorsport engines include the crankcase made of a special aluminium-silicon alloy and constructed in bedplate design, individual throttle butterflies, anti-knock sensors with ion flow technology, and, wet sump oil supply optimised for supreme driving dynamics.

Gearbox from the future - 7 speed M DKG

M3 GTS is equipped with M double-clutch gearbox with Drivelogic. Developed specially for motorsport the gearbox changes gears instantly without slightest in interruption of engine power. The driver is able to shift gear both trough lever stick on the centre console and through special M shift paddles on the steering wheel.

Suspension for both race tracks and public roads

The suspension is based on the front and rear axle of the BMW M3 Coupe. It also features adjustment threads on the dampers for individual variation of the inbound and rebound strokes.
The enormous six piston brakes on the front and four pistons on the rear wheels guarantee enough stopping power even on extreme racing conditions. The race-oriented set-up of DSC Dynamic Stability Control naturally considers the supreme dynamic potential of the BMW M3 GTS. The car is equipped with different-sized tyres front and rear running on 19" M light-alloy Competition rims in double-spoke design ensure optimum transmission of acceleration and brake forces to the road

Aerodynamics package

To improve the flow of air and adjust the car's downforce, BMW M3 GTS has race-oriented front air dam and rear wing. The air guidance units on the front air dam, for example, may be varied in their geometry, just like the position of the rear wing based on the wing already featured on the BMW 320si raced in the WTCC World Touring Car Championship. Other exterior elements are BMW kidney grille and the gills at the side finished in chrome on the regular BMW M3 come in special dark eloxy-plated chrome on the BMW M3 GTS

Interior package

The interior package includes classic bucket seats, interior trim in carbon and an M steering wheel finished in alcantara. The door and side panels at the rear also come in alcantara. Six-point seat belts, a fire extinguisher and preparation for an emergency-off switch finishes the safety system.
