BMW Vision EfficientDynamics on the road?
The latest rumors are that BMW will hit the market with their Vision EfficientDynamics model, which is a 2+2 sport coupe with ActiveHybrid technology. It is specially designed for maximum aerodynamic flow and has a drag coefficient of just 0.22.
The car is powered by a 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a 'hybrid synchronous' electric motor at the front. The total output of the system is 328PS, which means 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and fuel consumption of just 3.7 liter per 100km (63mpg) and emissions as low as 99 g/km.
Furthermore, the vehicle can run up to 50km (31 miles) only on electrical power. The total range is up to 700km with the 24 liter tank for the diesel.
BMW Vision EfficientDynamics will be called i100 and the launch is expected to be in 2013.
