BRABUS Mercedes-Benz G 500 4x4² Front ViewBRABUS Mercedes-Benz G 500 4x4² is going to be revealed tomorrow at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It will be shown at BRABUS stand next to the recently announced custom Mercedes-AMG GT S. Just like the AMG GT S, the G 500 features similar improvements: power uprating and various improvements to the exterior and interior. Let's see what has happened here.

Engine Uprating via BRABUS B40 - 500 PowerXtra Performance Kit

Mercedes G 500 4x4² is typically driven by the four-liter eight-cylinder twin-turbo engine. Without any modifications it produces 422 hp (310 kW) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of optimum torque. The tuners decided to apply the BRABUS B40 - 500 PowerXtra performance kit onto the powerful V8, thus giving it an addition of 78 hp (58 kW) and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft).

The result is spectacular, and before you calculate it yourself, I will tell you that it is 500 hp (368 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 710 Nm (523 lb-ft) of torque available between 2,250 and 4,250 rpm. Another great result of this tuning is that the performance optimization also gives the Mercedes the capabilities to sprint from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.9 seconds. The top speed of the SUV is limited electronically to 210 km/h (130 mph).

Powerful BRABUS-Inspired Exterior

The additional horsepower and torque demand the use of better exhaust. For this purpose, BRABUS installed their stainless-steel sports exhaust system with actively controlled butterfly valves, which control the level of the sound. In addition, the exhaust also features dual chrome tailpipes on each side of the vehicle, thus creating imposing stance. At the rear we also see a brand new bumper as well as mirror-polished underride guard.

The front looks as sophisticated as the rear. There we see new bumper panels on the left and right as well as a mirror-polished underride guard. There is an additional panel under the special radiator grille with integrated BRABUS logo. By the way, the hood scoop, the new radiator grille and headlamp surrounds are all made from carbon fiber.

Furthermore, the front bumper panels include LED lights with chrome surrounds, while the black-tinted BRABUS xenon headlamps and daytime running lights with integrated turn signal function are even more dominating features. Carbon fit covers replace the production turn signals on top of the fenders.

At last, the sides have been upgraded via underfloor lighting for the running boards. They are activated by pulling on a door handle or by operating the keyless-entry remote.

Interior Highlights

The interior was also included in the plans for optimization. BRABUS Mercedes G 500 4x4² features an upholstery made of the finest black Mastik leather with arrow-shaped quilting. The red seams add an intriguing contrast. Alcantara is also to be found in the cabin, precisely on the headliner plus other components in the interior.

The carbon inlays adds even more striking highlight, while the stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo welcome the passengers. And if someone finds that getting out or in the vehicle difficult, then BRABUS have created special power-retractable steps. At last, the tuning of the cabin is rounded out by the aluminum pedals and door pins.
