Dacia will compete in the 2009/1010 Trophee Andros ice-racing series with a specially tuned by Renault Sport Technologies, competition version of the Duster SUV based on Dacia Duster Crossover Concept unvealed at Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. But that is not all, the motorsport refined 4x4 Duster will get its first taste of ice racing in the hands of the renowned Alain Prost.

The retired, former F1 World Champion will test his own ultimate racing skills once again at the icy-circuits visited by the Trophee Andros. In ice racing, the track conditions are very changeable as a result of prevailing weather conditions, and driving calls for rigour, precision and race-craft, three qualities which all come naturally to a champion of Alain Prost's calibre. Speaking about his latest challenge, Alain Prost said, "I am delighted to be driving the Dacia Duster. It is a brand new vehicle, and I am proud to be able to play a part in its promotion to the unusual backdrop of the Trophee Andros. Thanks to the work put in by Renault Sport Technologies, I have every confidence in Dacia Duster's potential and reliability, which together point to an extremely exciting season."

Dacia Duster competition car benefits from a three-litre, carefully tuned, 24-valve V6 engine from the Renault-Nissan Alliance range. It delivers peak power of 350hp at 7,500rpm and maximum torque of 360Nm at 5,500rpm. A special six-speed sequential gearbox ensures the fast and precise gearshifts, even when drifting through corners at full speed. More agility and control are achieved by the mid-engined layout, which contributes for the perfect weight distribution and lower centre of gravity. Furthermore, the motorsport 4x4 SUV is fitted with a double wishbone suspension and long-travel dampers, limited slip differentials and four-wheel steering system for ultra cornering control.
