The latest Fiat 500 meets its predecessor, which was one of the best selling small cars in the world.

The road test is made by Andrew Frankel, who will find out how much of the original car's character lives on in the latest model.

The first Fiat 500 was put on sale in 1957 and it was produced until 1975.

The small city car was offered with a choice between three engines. The first one is 479cc Inline-2 with only 13bhp. The second is much more powerful again two-cylinder, but with 499cc and power of 21bhp. The late version of the old 500 was powered by a "staggering" Inline-4 with 23bhp.

The new Fiat 500 hit the market in 2007. It offers a wide engine range and a lot of extras. However, it still reminds to the cute old-fashioned 500.
