BOBBY LABONTE – No. 96 Ford Fusion (Qualified 11th) – "The first lap I probably didn't run as high as I could have – a little bit – but I just wanted to be as smooth as possible. I don't know if that would have made a difference on the second lap as much as it would have made the first lap look a little bit better, I suppose. These guys have put a lot of effort into this Ford Fusion and obviously we've come a long ways from a few weeks ago. I got in the race car last night for the first time since Homestead and it looked like it, from my point of view, but I'm excited about the future. Whether it's Wednesday in practice or Thursday in the race to Sunday and on and on. We obviously wanted to go a little faster and I'm disappointed in that, but, at the same time, it is what it is and we've got what we've got. We'll go race from there." GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Qualified 16th) – "I'm really happy. That was a pretty decent pick-up for us. Certainly we want to be faster up the speed chart, but that was a good pick-up. The guys with all the hard work through the winter and getting oils and everything hot and everything that we tried seemed to work, but we were still a tenth or at tenth-and-a-half off of really where we need to be for qualifying up in the front, but certainly that's a decent run for us."

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Qualified 26th) – "I want to be just a little bit faster, but that will put us about the middle of the field for the Gatorade races. If that race is warm like this, it's gonna be wild considering what happened last night in the Shootout when everybody had a lot of grip. It will be fun. As long as we keep this car in the general same shape it's in right now and be there at the end, Bob and those guys got a great handling race car and I think that's gonna be the key." DID YOU HIT YOUR MARKS? "I didn't leave anything out there. Qualifying at Daytona, you put the thing on the floor. Going into turn one on my good lap I thought, ‘The only thing I can do to screw this up is to accidentally lift,' so I made sure the push the pedal as hard as I could and pretty much just wheeled around and hoped for the best. That was the time we got."

2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona

PAUL MENARD – No. 98 Menards Ford Fusion (Qualified 13th) – "That's about what we ran in practice, so we're right there. We're gonna work on the car in the draft for the 150. We learned a lot last night car-wise, so we'll apply that and I learned a lot as a driver, so I'm looking forward to the 150." HOW DOES THIS FORD FEEL? "We'll know more in two weeks when we go to Fontana as far as how the cars drive, but here the place is so rough you've pretty much got what you've got when you show up. The power feels really good and the cars are driving fairly good. We've got to work on it a little bit more, but we've got good horsepower with Roush Yates."

JAMIE MCMURRAY – No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Qualified 24th) – "We've qualified like 25th at most of the plate races and I think that's gonna be better, and then last night was pretty encouraging. I think this car is supposed to drive better and have more power than the car last night did. And for qualifying unless you're on the pole or the outside here, it's somewhat irrelevant because you actually get your starting position by how you race your way in, so we'll just have to wait and see."

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Qualified 27th) – "I think we've got a great race car. It's always a lot of fun to go fast here on qualifying days and we've had some great qualifying cars in the past. But with this car we're here to race on Thursday and I think we're right around all of our teammates, so as a company that's about what we have. I think we've got some good race cars, so it will be interesting to see what happens on Wednesday and Thursday." DID YOU BROTHER, ADAM, DROP THE GREEN FLAG FOR YOUR QUALIFYING LAP? "Yeah, I heard he was gonna drop the flag and that's pretty neat. I'm glad he didn't literally drop the flag, but Adam always has a lot of fun doing stuff like that and it was pretty neat. I hope somebody got a good picture."

MATT KENSETH - -No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Qualified 23rd) – "All of our cars seem to be about the same speed, so if we end up in the mid-twenties that's about what I expected. We worked on qualifying as hard as we could work on it within the rules, but if you're not in the top two it doesn't really matter, but we work on it as hard as we can. We want to get the best lap we can for starting spots, but that's about what we could run. All of our cars are about the same speed, so that's just all we had."

TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 28 Golden Corral Ford Fusion (Qualified 8th) – "I'm just really proud of everybody on this Yates Racing team. We're just really excited to have Golden Corral come on for the 500 and, hopefully, we can have a good showing for them and there might be more down the road. What we had here today, we knew we had some in the bag, but we really didn't believe we had four-tenths. In practice yesterday we didn't do all the little tricks like pulling the brakes back and all the heaters, all the oils, all the things everybody does and we didn't do any of that. We didn't think it was gonna be worth that much, but that's a good thing and I'm just really proud to have our Ford in the top 10 right now." YOU DIDN'T KNOW HOW GOOD IT WAS RIGHT AWAY, WHY? "I knew it was a pretty good lap because you get a pretty good gauge by looking at your tachometer how many rpm's the engine is turning and I told them on the first lap that it was the best rpm I'd seen all weekend. But we took the radio antennae off to qualify and I was on the backstretch and couldn't hear. It was just a bunch of static and just a bunch of noise. I was trying to find the scoring pylon and I saw a couple cars with two somethings in there in the top 10 and I was just praying that one was mine and it sure was, so that's great."

Bill Elliott looks down Pit Lane after qualifying 5th for the 2009 Daytona 500

BILL ELLIOTT – No. 21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion (Qualified 5th) – "I have such mixed emotions. This whole Motorcraft team – David Hyder, Len and Eddie (Wood) – they really put a good plan together to come down here for the 500 this year and I'm so proud of what they've done. I'm disappointed for those guys that we didn't sit on the pole as good as we ran yesterday, but on the flip side I looked back a year ago when we ended up loading that Motorcraft Ford up going home. It's such a fine line. We've got to make sure we get a good, solid qualifying run because, to me, it's in steps. You've got to look at it from the standpoint of first, this is your best opportunity to get in the Daytona 500 today as far as qualifying speed. If you miss that, then you've got a second chance on Thursday, but you want to do it a step at a time. So now if we hold where we're at today, we'll be locked in for the 500 and then we can worry about racing and doing what we need to do – get through the Dual 150 and go from there." WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? "I think it says it on the board. We're the fastest of the Fords and that was a very impressive run as far as we're concerned. It's kind of a double-edged sword being that we didn't get the pole, but there again, we're out of the top 35 in points and we needed a good, solid run, so that's kind of where we need to be."

BORIS SAID – No. 08 Scotts Ford Fusion (Qualified 20th) – "That was our best lap. We're not locked in, which is a little disappointing, but maybe if we can get lucky and stay fourth, we've still got a good shot to make this Daytona 500. But everybody at Scotts Miracle Gro – to get on my car and U.S. Chrome – I feel really happy, and especially the power that Yates gave me and all the help that Roush gave me. That Ford Fusion was pretty fast." YOU'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE. "It just makes it more nerve-racking. It would have been nice to be in the top three and locked in, but there are some really good guys there and we're really close. If Tony Stewart races in and those guys race in, we still could have a chance, even if we mess up our 150, but, now, when we get in the 150 we're just gonna drive as hard as we can."
