Mercedes has officially confirmed that in the spring of 2011 its all-new, ultra-dynamic sports ride - the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 - is about to hit the GT3 competitions. Of course, the staggering gullwing race ride is engineered for petrol heads competing in sprints and long-distance races, and not on the streets.

Almost finished, the SLS AMG GT3 is engineered by AMG in cooperation with HWA and tested by some of the world's best drivers, including Bernd Schneider, five times DTM champion and one time ITC championship and FIA GT winner.

According to Mercedes, the SLS AMG GT3 will be ready to meet the track's tarmac just in time for the start of the upcoming motorsport season in February 2011.

At its launch, this extraordinary race monster is about to boast the not less extraordinary price tag of 397,460 Euro, including 19 % VAT.

Norbert Haug, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport shared with excitement: "The Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 will start a new era in Mercedes-Benz customer motorsports. This car is an exciting and spectacular sporting tool for committed private teams and talented private drivers. Together with our well-proven sports and touring car partner HWA, AMG will establish a customer motorsports department, and ensure the usual high level of Mercedes service for its motorsports customers."
