Poker Stars and their cars
Texas Hold'em is the most popular and interesting kind of Poker. There are a number of tournaments across the world where you can meet amazing people – Poker Pros, billionaires, or just some lucky fans. The biggest tournament is World Series of Poker (WSOP), which is held annually since 1970. For a long time, there has been an occupation called "Poker Pro", which describes a person living on money made by playing poker.
Some of the poker professionals are Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, who owns a Ferrari 458; Vanessa Rousso has Lamborghini Gallardo; and Phil Ivey owns a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Not only all of these cars are extremely expensive, but they are also meant to be driven.
As Mr. Ivey said in an interview, "I went with a friend to help him buy a car, and there was this McLaren Mercedes in the parking lot. I asked the salesman how much it was and I said, "That's too much money for a car!" He said, "Take it for a test drive." I got back and I'm like, "Where do I sign?"
So, poker professionals are not only lucky guys, who have the chance to win a lot of money by playing cards, but they are petrol heads as well… at least some of them. Phil Hellmuth may be is one of the best poker players in the world, but he is not among the best drivers. He had arranged to arrive at the 2007 WSOP Main Event in a race car escorted by eleven models representing his 11 bracelets. Everything was very good... except for a major accident – Hellmuth hit a concrete light fixture in the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino parking lot. Happily, he was OK and appeared two hours later for the Main Event.
There are still other poker professionals, such as Tom Dwan, for example, who prefer spending their money on rather different things like vacations, big flat screens, video games, etc.
Whether you'll buy a super car with your poker money, it's up to you!
