Renault released the Twingo Renaultsport R2 kit
Renault is introducing the Twingo Renaultsport R2, a modern, efficient and reliable rally car aimed at aspiring professional drivers. Offering a great combination of day-to-day driveability and first-class performance, the compact vehicle benefits from few special enhancements which can only be found in the pro motorsport rides. Thanks to a responsive balanced chassis and bump/rebound adjustable shock absorbers, the little rally car is offering different setups for optimal driving performance. Under the Twingo R2’s bonnet is roaring a specifically-prepared 4-cylinder 1.6-litre 16V engine, which produces 160hp (118kW) at 7,250rpm – an extra 27hp compared to the production engine. Connected to a five-speed sequential gearbox and steering column mounted shift lever, the engine generates a maximum torque of 160Nm at 5,500rpm, giving it a wide power band.
Right from the start of this project, Renault Sport Technologies has taken the needs of amateur drivers into account. Making the small rally car easy-to-drive and affordable to buy. Renault Twingo Renaultsport R2 comes in the form of a motorsport package including all the required parts. Customers who buy the kit will be able to purchase a Twingo Renaultsport 133 at a special price. This solution allows customers to obtain a complete, fully-registered production car into which the kit is built.
The R2 package will be availale at the market from early April, 2010, at the price of 27,990€ without VAT.
