Audi RS3 vs BMW 1 Series M [video]
Here is an interesting fight between the best hot compact class cars on the market. 2011 Audi RS3 and BMW 1-Series M Coupe are tested by Mark Higgins and Tiff Needell, respectively.
Firstly, the RS3 is powered by a 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbocharged engine with 340PS (250 kW) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The power unit is mated to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox, which enables the car to do 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and with a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited), it is a real hot hatchback. The power is put on the road through Quattro all-wheel drive system. The car also comes with lowered suspension by 25 mm compared to a regular A3 and a high performance braking system including ventilated discs – 370mm at the front and 310mm at the rear.
The price for this pleasure is €49 900.
On the other side is the rear-wheel drive BMW 1-Series M Coupe coming with a twin-turbo 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder with 340PS (250 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, which is a bit slower than the Audi, but the top speed is the same 155 mph (250 km/h) – electronically limited. 1-Series M Coupe also has sports suspension and bigger brakes - 360mm front and 350mm rear discs.
2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe is priced at €50 500.
