Lotus Motorsport has released the first official image of its Lotus Evora Cup race car, which will make its first public appearance at the Autosport International racing car show in Birmingham, UK. The racing mid-engine Evora benefits from many race car elements that ensure incredible handling and top-end performance. It has high-tech, super-stiff extruded and bonded aluminum chassis and double wishbone suspension, which means that it is a relatively easy progression from the production car to a competitive race car.

Outside, the new race vehicle is finished in Epsom Green paint with a sporty Solar Yellow stripe down the centre. Engineered to participate in the renowned GT4 racing series, the new Evora Cup is a potent sports ride ready to offer a great platform to race in high level motor sport.

Under the bonnet of the new Evora Cup, the Lotus Motorsport engineers have mounted a new 4.0-litre V-6 power unit that delivers the astonishing 400 horsepower, and features a dry sump system for high cornering forces encountered during racing. The race engine is mated to a Cima six speed sequential paddle shift dog gearbox, which is designed for international motor sport.

The racing edition Evora Cup also boasts a Dallara aero kit, which is consist of updated carbon fibre parts specially developed to improve the downforce and the cooling. It also incorporates the Lotus "Performance through light weight" philosophy, which translates into a reduction of more than 200 kg over the production car.

The Lotus Evora Cup's final design and full spec list will be presented officially at the forthcoming Geneva Motorshow in March 2010. The car is priced at £120,000 without taxes.
