Two Maserati MC12s made it up to the podium today here in Bucharest, where the second race of the City Challenge was run along the 3,071-meter track in the city streets of the Romanian capital, around the magnificent Parliament building. After an excellent Race 1 result, run the previous evening, Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels repeated yesterday’s third place, despite the 105-kg ballast on board. At the end of the 45th Ulster International Rally, Sebastien Ogier and Jack Boyere have won the twowheel drive category in their C2-R2 MAX. Called up recently to replace Simon Jean-Joseph, who is recovering from facial injuries, Sebastien was co-driven by Jack Boyere in the Citroen prepared and maintained by PH-Sport. In the long-established midsummer’s endurance race, Round 6 of SUPER GT the “International POKKA 1000km” event took place on August 24th at Suzuka Circuit (1 lap: 5.807km). Starting from fourth on the grid, the CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R (#12 Tsugio Matsuda/Sebastien Philippe) withstood the severe long-distance and about six hours’ racing to take the win. The new A1GP Powered by Ferrari cars were in testing action again over three days last week - on UK soil for the first time at Silverstone International Circuit in Northamptonshire. The new black A1GP liveried machine made its debut running alongside the yellow test car as the first real comparisons could be seen on a circuit where the previous A1GP cars had clocked up extensive testing miles. Valencia (ES). At the maiden F1 event in Valencia Robert Kubica finished third. It is the eighth podium for the BMW Sauber F1 Team in 2008 and the fifth this season for the Pole. Kubica started the European Grand Prix from third on the grid. Team mate Nick Heidfeld slid from eighth to ninth immediately after the start and did not score in Spain. Read more »

The Chevrolet WTCC team is heading towards the east next weekend, for the 15th and 16th rounds of the 2008 World Touring Car Championship in Oschersleben, Germany. All three Lacetti drivers will be more than motivated to succeed at the track which – due to its twisty nature and many race incidents – traditionally is one of the most difficult hurdles of the WTCC season. Rob Huff – who came so close to winning at Brands hatch – and Nicola Larini will both be making the most of running a relatively light car while most other front runners are closing in on the maximum success ballast limit. Nearly 1300 Subarus will gather to celebrate the life of Colin McRae and create a convoy which will stretch nearly 20 miles.

Two months after the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours, Team Peugeot Total was eager to pull off a win in Germany where its two 908 HDi FAPs both qualified on the front row of the grid.  The two crews produced a perfect team effort to provide the French carmaker with its first one-two finish of the season, just as they had done at the Nürburgring this time last year.  The result also hands Peugeot and its crews the provisional lead in both championships.
