There were 30 cars at the competition for Performance Car of the Year 2009. Among the competitors were Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and many other very well known marques.

Darren Turner, who is champion from Le Mans Series put the car through test drive on different roads in Britain and objective testing at the Rockingham Motor Speedway, where the cars showed their maximum performance qualities.

Lotus Evora is a mid-engined  2+2 seater sports coupe. It is powered by 3.5 litre V6 developing 280ps and 342Nm of torque. The car weight just 1382kg, which delivers extraordinary good performance and  unique experience behind the steering wheel. Evora accelerates from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and has top speed of 261km/h. The fuel consumption is just amazing for a sports car - 8.7 litre / 100km - Combined Cycle and 6.5 litres / 100 km on the highway.

Lotus always bet on handling of their sports cars, but with Evora it comes to a new level. Chris Chilton, Assistant Editor at Car Magazine said: "There are executive saloons that don't ride this well, supercars that don't turn in so crisply, and surely no car on the planet steers like this", which is distinctive proof that Lotus Evora is an amazing car.

There is no doubt, that Evora deserves this title.
