Improved and More Powerful 2016 Nissan NP300 Navara Debuts in Frankfurt
2016 Nissan NP300 Navara is here to bring innovations in the one-tonne pick-up sector. It will probably become a leader in the segment, because it combines the best of Nissan's crossovers, exquisite design and the best of engineering. Improved and refined, the pick-up offers unmatched off-road ability, durability, drivability and loading capacity.
Exterior & Interior Design
NP300 Navara is designed and engineered in a rugged yet sporty style. Its surfaces are a mix of convex and concave forms and bold look. The V-motion grille is flaked by boomerang shaped LED DRLs, which make the stance of the pick-up unique.
Inside, the spacious cabin offers maximum comfort and practicality. As a matter of fact, the dashboard has been entirely redesigned and it now has more sculpted design. In addition, the front seats include Spinal Support and what makes them really special is that they have been engineered using NASA-inspired technology. Adding to the comfortability are the dual-zone digital climate control, rear cab ventilation and seat design.
Nissan says that vehicle's new 2.3-litre dCi engine is up to 24 per cent more efficient than the unit it replaces. It is also the cleanest and most economical in its sector. There are two power output options: 160 hp (118kW) and 190 hp (140kW). The latter includes twin turbocharging technology. In terms of transmissions, there is a choice of two or four-wheel drive and the option of a standard six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Payload & Towing
Pick-up's load carrying and towing ability was also improved. The payload ratings are now more than one tonne, while the towing capacity has been rated at 3,500kg. In addition, the Double Cab's load bed is now longer with 67mm when compared to the previous model, making a load bed length of 1,578mm. King Cab's load bed is 1,788mm long.
Wide Range of Technology Features
2016 Nissan NP300 Navara pick-up is filled with great technology features some of which are introduced for the first time. An instance are the Around View Monitor and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) adding to the enhanced safety of the vehicle. More safety and convenience goodies include Cruise Control, Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) and more.
Ride & Handling
When it comes to ride and handling, Nissan has done its best by adding the five-link rear suspension system for the Double Cab model, making it 20kg lighter. The King Cab features an updated version of the leaf spring design, weighing 7kgs less than the previous under slung design.
2016 Nissan NP300 Navara is going to make European debut at the Frankfurt Motorshow this September. Additional specifications and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
